In a 17-year carreer, Swedish professional golf player Sophie Gustafson, born 1973, never gave any press conference or TV interview, despite her remarkable professional wins of five LPGA and 21 international wins. Then in 2011, she gave her first TV interview for Golf Channel and ventured into a taped acceptance speech (see video above) after she received the 2011 Ben Hogan Award from the Golf Writers Association of America, celebrating a player "who has overcome injury or illness to compete". Sophie simply says: "I wanted to go a little bit out of my comfort zone".

A reminder that speech is a fight.
