Strange things happening on the 飯坂線 train between Fukushima and Iizaka Onsen, a small line less than 6 miles (~9 km) long in the Fukushima prefecture. On 25 August 2012, members of Hijokaidan (Junko, Jojo Hiroshige and Toshiji Mikawa) teamed up with Yoshihide Otomo and saxophonist Junji Hirose to organize this collective live performance, each musician getting on the Fukushima Noise Train at a different station. This is cathartic, propitiatory noise in all its glory, performed before an ecstatic audience. The rest of the year, the line is rather peaceful and bucolic, as this YouTube video testifies.
